Job Description
SEEKING ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY–
The Law Office of Walsh & Associates (d.b.a. The Abogado Ernesto Law Group in the Spanish-speaking community) is an established, successful boutique Immigration Law, practice serving the immigration needs of noncitizen clients throughout the state of Colorado, with offices located in Denver and Colorado Springs. Our firm is overseen by its Managing Attorney, Robert Ernesto Walsh, out of its Colorado Springs office, with three Senior Associate Attorneys working at the firm’s Denver office and one Associate Attorney working at its Colorado Springs office. We also have J.D. law clerks working at each of our office locations, as well as several paralegals and additional support staff team members working remotely from home throughout Colorado. We are currently looking to fill one Associate Attorney position in Denver.
OPEN ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY POSITION:
DENVER, CO – We are seeking an Associate Attorney for motion practice, legal research and drafting, review of applications, assessment of removal defense options, immigration downtown and detention center et cetera, at our Denver office. The minimum requirements for the Associate Attorney role at our Denver office are: active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction and at least one year of experience in legal document drafting and research, with a strong command of Microsoft Word. However, the ideal candidate will have some Spanish language ability (preferred), be barred in Colorado, and be an advanced user of Microsoft Word and should have some experience in immigration, criminal defense or both. The starting pay range for this Associate Attorney position is $60,000 to $100,000 per year; depending on experience, qualifications, and jurisdictional admission(s).
TIME OFF, PERKS, AND AMENITIES:
As an Associate Attorney at our firm you will receive all federal holidays off with pay, flexible sick days and paid vacation time, reimbursement for work-related expenses (court parking, non-commute work-related travel, et cetera), and company contribution to Aflac. After six months as an Associate Attorney with the firm, we will cover your state bar membership dues and the cost of certain practice-specific CLE conferences and events. Ideally, we are looking to hire Associate Attorneys who are the right fit for our firm’s office culture and who will decide to stay on with the firm long-term to attain eventual promotion to profit-sharing Senior Associate Attorney positions in the future.
ABOUT OUR FIRM:
Our firm is passionate about representing the best interests of vulnerable noncitizens whose lives and livelihoods are in jeopardy due to their immigration status, so a dedicated commitment to providing excellent and diligent removal defense is required of all our firm’s attorneys. However, our firm’s culture and office working environment are not as straight-laced and uptight as many other law firms. We do not require our attorneys to report billable hours, we allow partial remote work-from-home options, we are open to flexible work hours to accommodate childcare, and we generally work a standard 40-hour workweek that allows for a reasonable work-life balance for all our employees. Our firm’s ethos is essentially that if you do your work well and competently, you meet your deadlines and are on time for your appearances, then you will be entrusted with the independence and autonomy to manage your time as you deem necessary in order to best and most efficiently perform your job. Our Managing Partner and Senior Associate attorneys are happy to train new lawyers, but are not interested in micromanaging anyone.
