    The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for a Buyer II, MRO, at our corporate headquarters in Vancouver, WA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

    Summary : Supports the plant purchasing function and is responsible for direct and/or indirect procurement of goods and services. This is an exempt position.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Purchases materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the Company.
    • Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services.
    • Performs spend analysis; researches baseline and benchmark commodity pricing.
    • Develops strategies for lowering overall cost; rationalization and consolidation of supply base.
    • Maintains a monthly request report using an Excel spreadsheet.

    Requirements : ****

    • Associate’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred; or, any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the position.
    • Professional certification preferred (C.P.M., CPSM, APP, etc.)
    • 4 years’ purchasing experience, including commodities, capital, MRO, services, and IT, preferably for a food manufacturer.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word; experience with ERP systems (PeopleSoft preferred).
    • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and to work extended schedule during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

    Compensation:

    The salary range is $62,000 - $68,000, based on experience and qualifications.
