    JOB DESCRIPTION: Operates one or more manufacturing machines under direct supervision of the Production Lead or Supervisor. The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and accurate operation of all major pieces of production equipment. The primary responsibility of the Machine Operator is to operate the extrusion line and its associated equipment. Machine Operators may be tasked to operate other production or supporting machinery. POSITIONS ARE OPEN ON 2ND SHIFT (2:30 PM TO 11:00 PM) AND 3RD SHIFT (10:30 PM TO 7:00 AM).  THE CURRENT SCHEDULE IS MONDAY - FRIDAY WITH WEEKENDS OFF; THE PLANT OPERATES 24 HOURS PER DAY/5 DAYS PER WEEK.  AT TIMES THE PLANT OPERATES 24 HOURS PER DAY/7 DAYS PER WEEK SO CANDIDATES MUST BE WILLING AND ABLE TO WORK ON THE WEEKENDS AS NEEDED. POSITION STANDARDS:  Basic training in machine operations, safety, and quality control. Regularly lift up to 40 lbs unassisted using proper body mechanics and up to 50 lbs with assistance. Prolonged periods of walking and standing on concrete surface. Accurately completing standardized production forms. Utilize basic measuring and observation equipment. Determine between good product and scrap by interpreting basic test results using visual work instructions and independent judgment. Reading and understanding semi-complex work instructions. Understanding cause and effect of machine adjustments. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Unload and process plastic coils or reels from the extrusion lines. Make minor adjustments to line controls under direct supervision from a Lead or a Supervisor. Test completed product for pass/fail product quality and provide proper documentation. Monitor line supply systems to ensure raw material for continuous production. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The position requires the operator to monitor the controls of a production line of 40 meters in length for an eight hour shift. The operator is responsible for unloading plastic hose products either in wrapped coil form or on packaged reels. The product is unloaded from coiling machinery and placed on a pallet at a frequency of between 4 and 15 minute intervals. The coils are moved either independently or with lift assistance depending on weight. Coil weight ranges from 30lbs to 70lbs. The operator works in a manufacturing environment without climate control and is subject to temperatures similar to the outside environment. The noise level within the environment is on average under 85 decibels and personal protective equipment is not currently required. PREFERRED CRITERIA: High School diploma or GED highly preferred. Previous experience operating machinery is required.  Previous experience in plastics, extrusion or molding is highly preferred.
