Aerothreads is actively seeking creative individuals who enjoy working as part of a team. You will be joining an excellent team of artists and makers that send thermal blankets into space. As a Thermal Blanket Specialist, you will be responsible for the fabrication of MLI (Multi-Layer Insulation) for spacecraft.
Candidates need love working with their hands and exhibit a strong attention to detail and a commitment for creating high quality products. Many of our specialists come from a background in fine arts, fashion, costumes, product design and more, but it's not necessary.
What to expect:
Using industry specific materials, you will be cutting, measuring, taping, fabricating, and assembling layers to create space flight certified thermal blankets.
Extensive hands-on training by expert level specialists.
Working in a State-of-the-art clean room used for manufacturing.
Aerothreads is an aerospace part manufacturing company that specializes in the design, fabrication, and installation of Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) blankets.
We design and fabricate custom thermal blankets that protect spacecraft hardware from the harsh environment of space. We are made up of makers, artists, and engineers, and believe that our success is attributed to the creativity and skill of our team members who bring their experience to the space industry.
Founded in 2014, Aerothreads is a woman owned MLI industry leader, offering consultation, design, fabrication, installation, and critical support services to a variety of clients, for both test and flight aerospace applications. Aerothreads represents the cutting edge of our industry and operates in a state-of-the-art facility based in Riverdale, Maryland in the Discovery District.
Requirements / Skills:
High attention to detail
Sewing skills / pattern making skills preferred but not necessary
Craftsmanship and desire for regimented, process-oriented work
Strong team player
No prior Aerospace experience required, but welcome
Due to contract restrictions, you must be a US Citizen
