    Job Description

    Title: Tool and Die Technician

    Reports to : Plant Manager

    Job Purpose : Responsible for repair and maintenance of all dies, punches, tool steel, and fixtures. Also, responsible for coil-fed die change setups and changeovers.

    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

    • Determine the extent and method of repair to dies by means of careful inspection and accurate measurement.
    • Perform repair operations to dies, punches, tool steel, and fixtures
    • Set up and operate standard milling machine, lathe, drill press, grinder and other machine tools as directed under general supervision
    • Set up, change, and change over metal stamping dies per production schedule
    • Set up specific part programs and parameters for metal stamping presses, feed lines, and dies using the company’s standard practices and procedures
    • Perform quality checks according to the company’s procedures to verify die set up prior to production run
    • Troubleshoot issues and identify the cause of errors, problems, and defects
    • Make and maintain shims for blank and form dies
    • Initiate maintenance work orders and log labor details according to the company’s recording process
    • Perform general housekeeping duties and daily, weekly, and monthly 5S duties
    • Maintain die racks and mounting plates in organized manner
    • Operate material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead crane, etc to move dies and equipment as needed
    • Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
    • Follow all OSHA and internal safety standards.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
    • 3 years minimum verifiable machinist experience and/or Technical Diploma
    • Ability to perform standard shop computations (math)
    • Ability to read schematics (blue prints), engineering drawings, and technical manuals
    • Experience with standard shop measuring tools and hand tools required
    • Experience operating metal stamping presses preferred
    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
    • Ability to perform basic maintenance of equipment
    • Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
    • Exceptional attendance record required
    • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments as well as work within a team environment
