Overview
This role involves troubleshooting dies, handling press calls, and performing TIG welding. We welcome Journeyman Toolmakers and Apprentices with 6-8 years of experience who are open to shift rotations and completing required schooling through our DOL-certified Apprenticeship Program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair progressive and transfer dies in a heavy stamping environment.
- Diagnose and resolve die-related issues while working on the press.
- Perform TIG welding (Tungsten) for die repair.
- Handle press calls and respond to tooling-related production concerns.
- Ensure proper function and longevity of dies used in high-tonnage stamping presses.
- Follow all safety and quality standards in a manufacturing setting.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Toolmaker certification preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Apprenticeship Opportunity: Candidates with 6-8 years of experience may qualify for our DOL-certified Apprenticeship Program, which requires shift rotations and coursework through Ivy Tech (tuition and books fully covered).
- Experience in progressive and transfer dies is required.
- Strong background in TIG welding is preferred.
- Candidates with only plastic injection molding experience are not a fit.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Pay: - Journeyman: $33 per hour starting, $35.25 per hour after 90 days.
* **Apprentices:** Pay starts at **$22 per hour** , up to **$31 per hour** based on skill, experience, and education.
- Shift Premiums: - 2nd Shift: +$1.50 per hour
* **3rd Shift:** +$1.00 per hour
- Overtime: Paid at 1.5x after 40 hours per week (typically 150-250 OT hours per year ).
