Manages the day to day operations and all aspects of Self-Direction Services. To act as a resource for people supported, their families, and their staff in creating and maintaining a person-centered approach through self-directed services. To provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to the Support Broker and Fiscal Intermediary team (Self-Direction Specialists). To ensure provision and payment of supports as outlined in each self-directed plan. Will be required to carry a small FI and/or Broker caseload.
- Ensures an organizational structure that supports the retention and development of staff to deliver a high level of services, as well as offer career development for high performers/ high potentials.
- Ensures the priorities and structure of the department align with the priorities of the broader organization.
- Ensures self and staff understand the organization’s vision, values, goals and strategies and their relationship to their daily work.
- Manages employee performance by establishing clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against the goals, ensuring timely feedback and addressing performance problems and issues promptly
- Ensures an effective learning environment by coaching employees, orchestrating learning opportunities, and providing relevant, high-impact feedback.
- Maintains accurate and complete documentation as required by Federal, State, OPWDD, and DDSO/DDRO standards. Understands and fully utilizes the tools (ex. eVero) needed for required documentation, reporting, and strategizing.
- Ensures continuity in the care of individuals by sharing necessary information and collaborating with outside service providers on issues such as results of goal implementation, individual behavior, and needs of the program to provide acceptable care.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
- Assists Self-Direction Specialists and service recipients with management of staff
- Provides training and support to the person supported regarding his/her employer responsibilities including the hiring of staff.
- Provides the person supported with orientation and support in hiring staff, staff performance appraisals, and conflict resolution.
- Maintains communication with the Finger Lakes DDRO regarding person supported and services.
- Manager is expected to be a part of collaborative Trade or community groups to continuously improve our best practices in delivering Self Direction Services.
Required Skills
- Valid NYS Driver's License. Availability of insured personal vehicle to transport self and occasionally people supported as necessary. Additional liability insurance for occasional transport of people supported is recommended.
COMPUTER SKILLS
- BASIC OUTLOOK skills as evidenced by creating and sending messages, working with address books, message handling, creating and using personal folders, scheduling appointments, working with meeting requests and managing tasks.
- BASIC MICROSOFT WORD skills as evidenced by the ability to produce basic business letters and simple tables and charts; as well as check spelling, set tabs, change page orientation, sort, save, open and organize electronic files.
- ADVANCED EXCEL skills as evidenced by the ability to use workbooks, create simple formulas, insert and delete data, create and edit charts, filter and sort lists, and format data.
Required Experience
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and two years’ experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Or
Associates Degree in a related field and 4 years’ experience, working with individuals with intellectual and development disabilities
Plus at least 1 year of Self Direction experience, as and FI and/or Broker required. 1-2 years supervisory experience required. Current Broker trainings required by OPWDD preferred.
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
