Position Overview:
We are seeking a Trade Compliance Manager to lead and enhance trade compliance processes across North American operations. In this role, you will ensure that all trade policies and procedures comply with U.S. and international regulations while collaborating with various departments, including Compliance, Engineering, Finance, IT, Logistics, and Supply Chain. The position involves managing import/export functions, overseeing broker and forwarder relationships, and managing one direct report. Beyond trade responsibilities, the role will also support general compliance activities. We are looking for a candidate with strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and sound judgment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and improve trade compliance and customs functions for North American locations, ensuring all import/export operations follow regulatory standards.
- Develop and implement sustainable trade compliance policies that adhere to U.S. and global regulations.
- Lead effective training programs for team members involved in import/export processes, maintaining comprehensive training records.
- Conduct regular audits and internal monitoring to ensure trade processes are in compliance and continuously improved.
- Serve as the escalation point for import/export compliance issues, including Anti-Dumping/Countervailing duty reviews and EEI filings.
- Collaborate with global teams on projects related to customs laws, tariff schedules, valuations, and assists.
- · Ensure compliance with Free Trade Agreements (USMCA, Buy America, etc.), performing annual and ongoing qualifications.
- Conduct risk assessments, identify compliance vulnerabilities, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Manage broker relationships, ensuring alignment with internal policies and maintaining appropriate customs bonds.
- Track, analyze, and report trade compliance metrics, and take action to resolve audit findings

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Operations, International Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in U.S. import/export regulations and global trade compliance.
- Expertise in HS Classification and ACE 2.0 import reporting, along with experience in EEI filings.
- Familiarity with Free Trade Agreements (e.g., USMCA) and experience navigating complex trade compliance issues.
- Proven experience leading teams and managing trade compliance functions.
- Knowledge of Global Trade Management (GTM) software is a plus.
- U.S. Customs Broker’s License is desired but not required.
- Prior experience in the automotive manufacturing industry a plus
