    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a dedicated and skilled Traffic Signal Engineer to join our team. This position involves managing traffic signal projects, conducting traffic signal analysis, and coordinating with the Traffic Management Center (TMC) to optimize traffic management systems. Traffic Management Centers (TMCs) serve as the central command hubs for monitoring and managing traffic flow and transportation networks. TMCs utilize Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technologies and proactive management strategies to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation infrastructure.

    Essential Functions:

    • Review traffic control device and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) plans for compliance with standards.
    • Oversee and manage traffic control device improvement projects.
    • Complete traffic signal and timing plans.
    • Conduct signalized intersection analysis.
    • Document and administer traffic signal plans and permits.
    • Provide technical assistance to city staff and project managers.
    • Maintain knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, codes, and regulations.
    • Research and prepare technical reports and correspondence.
    • Coordinate with other public works units and agencies.
    • Respond to traffic signal concerns from city management and constituents.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum:

    • Bachelor’s degree in civil or traffic engineering or related field and two (2) years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
    • Valid US driver’s license to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, must pass a motor vehicle records review.

    Preferred:

    • Professional Engineer’s license.
    • Certifications in Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE).
    • IMSA Traffic Signal Construction Technician II or equivalent.
