    Job Description

    AHRC NYC is looking to hire two Training Instructors for their Queens Train & Earn Youth Community Development Program. This particular program will focus on training related to the Industrial and Infrastructure sector.

    ** Program Background**

    Train & Earn is a career pathways program funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) that provides comprehensive job training and employment services, along with support services needed by participants to find a permanent job, obtain their high school equivalency if applicable, and access postsecondary education and training. Train & Earn is for youth and young adults aged 16–24, who are not working and not in school, and meet certain eligibility requirements. The Skills Instructor will lead and conduct training activities.

    Under the direction of the Program Director, the Skills Instructor will make an active and organized effort to maximize each participant’s development and well-being by implementing individualized program plans, integrating the services received, and recording ongoing progress.

    ** ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

    • Implements the program training related to the Industrial and Infrastructure sector: supporting students to receive the Concrete Polishing Certification and OSHA 30 credential
    • Implements individualized person-centered teaching plans
    • Prepares daily lesson plans, in advance and on an individual basis geared towards the participants’ person-centered program plans. Carries through on these program plans
    • Engages in case conferences, with an appropriate summary of participants’ progress
    • Maintains appropriate attendance and other required records.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in education or a relevant field related to Industrial and Infrastructure with applicable experience supporting youth in occupational and life skills training, college preparation and enrollment, and/or coordination of training and/or tutoring services, as appropriate for the program.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of methods, principles and techniques of teaching neuro-diverse individuals
    • Ability to work collaboratively with other professional staff and participants’ families.
    • Ability to conduct evaluations and make recommendations.
