Transit Bus Driver
Reports to: Tribal Transit Manager
Salary (Grade): $19.65 (G14-E)
Status: Reg., Full-time (Nonexempt)
Location: Tribal Transit Headquarters located in Winnebago, Nebraska
Job Purpose & Position Overview
Tribal Transit drivers shall provide transportation to and from designated sites according to assigned route while adhering to all D.O.T. regulations pertaining to operating a passenger bus.
Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Demonstrate and uphold the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.
Must be aware of assigned route and able to work weekends, nights and for special events if needed.
Maintain account sheets of location and number of riders.
Arrive at bus boarding stop on time to pick up passengers going to work and/or school.
Making sure each passenger has valid bus pass to ride.
Shall be responsible for fueling vehicle at end of schedule for next driver.
Must have knowledge of operating handicap lift as needed.
Shall assist with cleaning bus/van after each shift.
Be aware of weather changes for the safety of passengers.
Perform emergency roadside repairs, changing tires and other minor problems as needed.
Above all must be respectful and courteous to all passengers.

Required Qualifications/Skills:
Must have valid CDL driver’s license/passenger endorsed with three years’ verifiable truck/bus driving experience.
Must be able to pass physical exam.
Be able to meet driver’s eligibility guidelines for insurance.
Must assume responsibility for adherence of scheduled routes, including timeliness.
Must be able to use a computer, for time keeping purposes.
Education Preference:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
Training Requirements:
Must attend all training courses and department meetings as required by Tribal Transit Manager.
Physical Requirements:
Normal to heavy work which includes the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Regularly required to walk, stand, and/or sit for extended periods of time and use hands and feet to operate transit passenger vehicles.
Manual dexterity with cooperatively free range of motion of all extremities including neck, fingers, hands, wrists, elbows, arms, shoulders, waist, legs, hips, knee joints, ankles, and feet is required.
While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

Language Requirements:
Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
