Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to join the transportation team in the Fort Worth, Texas office.

Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. While this position will primarily work with the Transit-Rail team, interns will be assigned duties that will provide broad, well-rounded learning. This position could provide the opportunity for the intern to work on components of multi-modal transit planning, such as light rail, commuter rail, high-speed rail, bus rapid transit, and microtransit, among other transit-supportive studies.

This position is expected to begin in May 2025

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Design of transportation infrastructure using CADD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRoads and/or MicroStation.
• Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of the Project Manager.
• Ensures that engineering-related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follow-up.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of CADD software
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• Attention to detail
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience or knowledge of Transportation projects.
• Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines, while maintaining professionalism and quality.
• Adaptable and flexible, showing a willingness and ability to take on new projects or areas with or without supervision, as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, with previous coursework experience in transportation, and must have completed at least three years of study.
• Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.
• Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
