    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Transportation Planning Senior Manager to be based in Chicago, IL, Middleton, WI, Minneapolis, MN, Saint Louis, MO, and Waterloo, IA.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Transportation Planning Senior Manager to lead projects and teams in the Greater West subregion of the US West Transit-Rail business line and collaborate with the US West Transit leadership team. This candidate will be able to demonstrate a successful career path in transit and multi-modal transportation planning to serve as a Project Manager working with clients, diverse projects, and project teams. Our typical portfolio of projects in our Midwest states includes transit project development and delivery; strategic planning and vision studies; long-range transportation plans; zero-emission vehicle transition and funding strategies; capital plans; program management; transit service planning; analysis of grant funding opportunities; emerging technology deployments; transit-oriented development plans; and many more. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to be highly organized, work well independently and collaboratively with the team, and the ability to communicate clearly, delivering excellent reports, studies and documents to the client. This candidate will be a highly experienced manager with full oversight, authority, and accountability for larger, more visible, complex projects and teams. The candidate will play a key role in understanding the strategic development of client relationships and positioning for transit and rail opportunities.

    ** JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:**

    • Managing project teams, supervising staff, and mentoring professional colleagues in a diverse workplace
    • Applying technical excellence in transit and transportation planning, particularly FTA, FRA and USDOT project development and funding processes
    • Identifying and supporting business development leads and marketing/proposal efforts, with a particular focus on the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes states (MN, WI, IA, MO, IL)
    • Working to meet financial and project management goals as defined by the organization annually
    • Managing a portfolio of clients with multiple projects
  • Qualifications

    ** MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**

    • BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

    ** PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**

    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in transportation planning, urban planning, civil engineering or another engineering or allied professional discipline
    • 10+ years of previous experience, including project management and people management, on transit and multi-modal transportation studies and projects; professional experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Technical expertise in transit project development processes and requirement, particularly FTA, FRA and USDOT project development and funding resources
    • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), GIS skills, or similar applications.
    • Experience using project management tools such as MS Project, Sharepoint, and other collaboration software.
    • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
    • Experience managing multidisciplinary projects and teams, including subconsultants
    • Ability to promote and initiate transportation solutions for a broad application of client needs
    • Experience with business development/client relations
    • Experience with client proposals and interviews
    • Experience with managing people at various experience levels and ability to mentor with their career development

    • Offered rate of compensation (Waterloo, Iowa. and statewide) area only will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $190,000.
