    TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR

    FULL TIME, SALARY- EXEMPT POSITION

    Position Summary:

    The Transportation Supervisor reports to the Purchasing/Distribution Manager. The Transportation Supervisor must have a CDL-A license, good leadership skills, good communication skills, personable, strong relationship builder and an in-depth knowledge of safety and transportation regulations.

    Essential Functions:

    Manages CDL-A drivers including but not limited to their initial and ongoing training and overall performance.

    Train new drivers, including showing them all routes, paperwork, electronic logs, parking location, ect.

    Ride with drivers to ensure safety protocol and procedures are followed.

    Assist with driver meetings and hold training throughout the year.

    Conduct driver road test for potential new hire.

    Assist with loading trucks.

    Manages company’s auto fleet, including Maintenance and Operations departments.

    Responsible for keeping all vehicle registration current.

    Reviews and schedules daily routing of equipment and manpower to meet restaurant needs in terms of normal deliveries, special deliveries, supplemental deliveries.

    Make weekly driver schedule.

    Resolves equipment failures or break-downs, providing advice and assistance to drivers, as well as submitting appropriate reports to leasing/maintenance provider for service and repair.

    Motivates employees, including performance evaluation, counseling, and problem resolution, to achieve a positive work environment.

    Supervises drivers including conflict resolution and disciplinary action as required.

    Set up safety training for drivers and monitor compliance of ELD (Electronic Log Data).

    Responsible and oversight of driver paperwork, including route paperwork, Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR), and driver logs.

    Update reports on a daily basis, including review of drivers’ on-board computer reports to ensure that goals for efficiency and timeliness are met.

    Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.

    Assist in special events as needed.

    Qualifications/Physical Requirements (Education/Training/Experience/Abilities):

    Must be able to operate both automatic and manual transmissions in both a safe and legal manner.

    Must possess current Class A CDL driver’s license and have extensive DOT knowledge.

    Must have food safety knowledge.

    Must possess a polite and friendly attitude.

    Must be neat and clean in appearance.

    Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

    Must be familiar and proficient with all commissary/warehouse duties.

    Ability move/lift up to 50lbs unassisted.

    The employee is frequently required to sit, speak and hear.

    The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus in both eyes.

    Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & DOT drug screen, and have an acceptable MVR driving record (active DL and car insurance are required).
