Gulf Coast Underground, LLC is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team. As a Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing various types of heavy equipment and vehicles used in our construction and engineering projects. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise will contribute to the success of our projects across multiple states (recent technical school grads are encouraged to apply).
Documentation: Maintain complete and timely paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed daily.
On-Site Services: Travel to job sites for repair/maintenance of company owned equipment and ensuring your service vehicle remains clean and professional.
Diagnostic: Diagnoses heavy duty truck system components under direct supervision, including electrical, electronics, and emissions related fault codes etc., in order to repair or replace faulty parts as indicated by the required testing or visual observations.
Safety: Examines all system parts looking for damage, excessive wear, loose bolts, broken welds, structural deficiencies, air leaks, oils leaks, stuck, frozen, or rusted parts, as well as safety devices on all types of trailers & other specialty equipment.
Compliance: Must meet federal criteria as outlined in 49CFR 396 for federal inspections and brake inspections and adjustment or can be trained.
Proven experience as a Mechanic, preferably in a construction or engineering setting.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical components.
Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills to interact with team members and report findings accurately.

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification is a plus.
Minimum of 3-5 years repairing heavy equipment.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy equipment.
Strong Hydraulic systems background. Pumps, motor, valves and hoses.
Willingness to work flexible hours as needed and travel regionally.
Ability to work solo with minimum supervision.
Willingness to obtain CDL (Class A or B) within 6 months of employment.
