Traveling Technician, Chillers
Position Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Chiller/HVAC Technician to join their dynamic team and support commercial mechanical system projects across the continental U.S. This role involves hands-on maintenance and repair of air-cooled and centrifugal chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and other HVAC equipment, with a focus on increasing system efficiency and reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, with great experience with chillers/1000+ tons. This position requires 50–75% travel.

Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Chiller Technician performing routine, and unscheduled, maintenance and repair of industrial mechanical systems including air cooled chillers, centrifugal chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handler units, valves, fan coil units, variable air volume systems, etc.
- Diagnose and repair of machine and equipment defects including electronic, mechanical, and electrical components related to these systems. Also includes diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer's recommendations, and explain fully to customer what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
- Oversee installation and operation of various mechanical systems.
- Assist in defining and developing the training, materials, and tools needed to support our chiller/HVAC maintenance business.
- Maintain good working order of company vehicle including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues. Vehicles should be washed on a regular basis. Proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment shall always be maintained in the vehicle.
- Maintain all relevant documentation related to all services and tasks performed, including make, model, serial number, necessary test measurements, and pictures, as necessary.
- Provide detailed, complete, and timely paperwork as required.
- Identify and report to supervisor/manager potential business, including site visits, conference calls with subcontractors and cost estimation.
- Additional tasks as required, may include but are limited to:
- Scheduling and coordinating services with the customer and vendors/subcontractors.
- Provide updates to communicate to dispatch, parts procurement, supervisors, and managers, as needed, to keep company and customers informed about work progressions
- Willingness and ability to complete professional and technical training.
Qualifications:
- Must possess personal tools, or have the ability to purchase those tools upon hire.

- Physical ability to perform all necessary job responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3-5years of experience in HVAC maintenance, mechanical engineering or other related fields.
- 1+yr in specific chiller experience, notably in inspecting and troubleshooting.
- Must be willing and able to travel M-F 2-3 weeks a month
Preferred Skills:
- Experience and or Certification in York Centrifugal and Air-Cooled Chillers preferred.
- 3 years of experience on 1,000 - 2,000 ton units preferred.

- This is a remote position
- Compensation:
- $30-35 p/hr DOE
