Job Description

Design Engineer’s Job Responsibilities:

• Updating of TriCab’s production specifications. This includes:
  • Preparation of specification/drawings for customer
  • Preparation of BOMs and routing for manufacturing specs
  • Implementation support for Design software, including costing
  • Updating of product catalogue as necessary
• Revision of manufacturing codes, raw materials, and specification. This includes:
  • Working with quality and manufacturing to update specifications as needed
  • Revision of Specs for substitute materials
  • Revision of specs for revision of standards, if applicable
• Working with the Compliance manager to update/develop all required documents for the QC team and investigate product quality issues as they arise
• Management of Certifications along with Compliance Manager. This includes:
  • Class societies (ABS, DNV, LR & BV)
  • UL Approvals (new products, revision of current products, etc.)
  • CSA Approvals
• Research and Development works
  • NPD
  • New market segments engineering requirements
  • Trials for new raw materials
  • Testing and certification requirements
• Interaction, mentoring, and support of technical staff in Australia, holding weekly technical topics meetings and daily email support of engineering related issues.
• Sales support for customer applications
• Experience in the Wire and Cable industry is required

Design Engineer Education, Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• 10+ year of design related experience
• Clear understanding of various IEC and IEEE standard in the cable industry
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
• Be proficient in using CAD drawing software
• Possess exceptional communication skills

This position will report to the TriCab USA Country Manager and will also liaise closely with the the VP of Manufacturing, The Tricab Engineering team in Australia and other managers as required.
