POSITION OVERVIEW
The Staff Attorney is an integral member of the Triage Cancer team, providing legal, programmatic, and communications support to the organization. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working on behalf of the cancer community and possess a strong work ethic. Candidates should be comfortable in a fast-paced, collegial environment, have a willingness to learn new skills, and be self-starters who can multitask. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Legal Programs
- Responding to requests for assistance from the cancer community through the Legal & Financial Navigation Program
- Conducting research on cancer-related legal and legislative issues
- Drafting content for educational materials, resources, blogs, and articles on cancer-related legal and legislative issues
- Supervising student volunteers, interns, and legal externs
- Maintaining and updating databases and other files
Events
- Developing and delivering presentations on cancer-related legal and legislative issues for Triage Cancer events and other events in-person around the country and online
- Supporting the coordination and execution of in-person and online educational events
- Representing Triage Cancer at trade shows, including staffing a booth, giving away incentive items or gift bags, conducting surveys, and directing traffic to the booth
Communications
- Promoting Triage Cancer services by engaging in outreach efforts, such as building relationships with the legal community, laws firms, and law schools
- Contributing to marketing and communications efforts on behalf of Triage Cancer
- Drafting fundraising appeals, grants applications, and reports to funders
Other duties as assigned
KEY SKILLS
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), email, and the internet
- Strong oral and written communications, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service skills, with a professional demeanor in person, in writing, and on phone and video calls
- Spanish language skills a plus
- Ability to think strategically, and to develop and implement projects
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Juris Doctorate degree
- Valid Driver License and valid automobile liability insurance, or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
- Ability to travel to events throughout the United States as necessary
POSITION STRUCTURE
This position reports to the Triage Cancer CEO. This position is a 40-hour per week, exempt, W-2 position. Salary range is $55,000 to $70,000, dependent on experience. Benefits include: dental, vision, and life insurance; HRA; and IRA match. Position will primarily be performed remotely.
