    Truck Driver – Local Loads – Day Shift

    We are a manufacturing company that is starting a distribution operation center in the Orlando, FL area. We are looking for an experienced truck driver with a valid CDL to make local runs to customers in the Orlando, FL area. This position will generally be an 7am to 3:30pm position, with some flexibility required as the business grows. This will be an hourly non-exempt position, eligible for OT.

    Truck Driver – Local Loads – Day shift

    This role will be responsible for safely operating a Company owned truck to transport products from one destination to another. The driver will drive local-to-the-area distances (will make it out and back in one shift) while adhering to strict federal and state regulations governing Company vehicle operation. This includes following hours of service limits, maintaining vehicle standards, and ensuring compliance with rest periods. This position will also handle loading and unloading of the truck, inspecting cargo for damage, and completing necessary paperwork to and from the distribution center and to and from the customer. When there are no loads or while waiting on product, the truck driver will assist the Distribution Center Supervisor in facility upkeep and other labor related work as necessary.

    Specific Responsibilities of the Truck Driver:

    • This position will report to the Distribution Center Supervisor and will work generally an 8am to 5pm schedule, with some flexibility as business needs change and grow
    • Communicate and coordinate with Distribution Center Supervisor to ensure product is loaded and delivered according to Customer specifications.
    • Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle and verify loads for accuracy
    • Maintain a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations
    • Obey and follow all applicable traffic laws and Company policies and procedures
    • Ensure any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving
    • Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
    • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations
    • Report defects, accidents and violations
    • Perform daily maintenance of truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.)
    • Load and unload trucks with forklifts and/or pallet jacks and or other required liftin/loading techniques as required
    • Interact with customers in a professional manner
    • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports
    • Record cargo/product deliveries
    • When not making deliveries, this role will assist in the warehouse on other duties as assigned
    • 3 to 5 years of Truck Driving Experience
    • Active CDL with all required and current certifications and documents
    • Knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading trucks using or not using equipment
    • Patience and customer service friendly demeanor
    • Must be able to work varying shifts as business needs change
    • Must have good attendance
    • Must be willing to do other tasks as requested – when not making deliveries
    • Must have ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing and to understand and give basic instructions in English.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.

    Requirements of the Truck Driver

    Physical requirements for the Truck Driver:

    This position requires the individual to work in a plant/manufacturing/distribution center environment and in a truck. The temperatures can fluctuate from hot to cold and the noise level can be high. An individual in this role will be able to walk, bend, stoop, twist, turn, climb, and push/pull frequently. An individual in this role will need to be always aware of movement and/or noises around them. An individual in this role must move 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally. An individual in this role will remain stationary for periods of time and move about the factory as needed per essential duties of the position. An individual in this role will be an effective communicator verbally and in writing, and this role requires individuals to read and follow written procedures and instructions with or without reasonable accommodations. This position is working indoors and working outdoors while driving and moving product.
