We are a nationally recognized non-profit organization that sells gently used furniture, appliances, building supplies and more, to raise funds for Milwaukee Habitat efforts to build safe and affordable housing in the City of Milwaukee.

Job Summary

The Truck Driver/Mover is responsible for driving a 24-26’ box truck with lift gate to pick-up residential and/or business donations of new or gently used building materials, appliances, furniture and household goods throughout Milwaukee County area. This individual will safely operate the truck and provide excellent customer service when interacting with donors. The Truck Driver/Mover would be part of a 2- person team responsible for performing pickups and delivering the donations to various ReStore locations. Duties would include assisting with unloading the truck and perform other retail store duties as needed and assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Donation Pick-ups/Driving

• Make local donation pick-ups using 24-26’ box truck and unload at various ReStore locations
• Review donations, compare to acceptable donations guidelines, and determine if donations can be accepted. If unacceptable, be able to decline donations professionally
• Load materials/goods without causing damage to the donated items or donor property
• Skilled in use of straps, load bars, appliance dolly, and loading techniques
• Represent Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity’s mission and values during donor interactions
• Drive safely and comply with lawful driving standards at all times
• Demonstrate a personal commitment to providing excellent customer service to every customer and donor
• Use safe lifting techniques

Vehicle Maintenance/Compliance

• Complete daily vehicle inspections and keep accurate records. Ensure that vehicle conforms to all applicable transportation laws and regulations and is safe to operate
• Properly use and care for company-provided equipment (e.g., GPS)

Operations/Logistics

• Support ReStore team members as needed upon completion of daily truck route.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, a team player, able to effectively handle customer questions and complaints
• Excellent attendance & punctuality
• Other ReStore duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High School diploma or G.E.D.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience driving a 24-26 foot box truck

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Able to efficiently navigate throughout Milwaukee County
• Able to pass drug screening, driver record and criminal background checks
• Excellent customer service skills and experience working with the general public
• Frequent lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward or tiring positions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequently lift up to 75 pounds
• Frequent bending, lifting, grasping, reaching, pushing, and pulling materials (above and below head level)
• Frequently walk and climb on uneven surfaces and stairs
• Independently operate a motor vehicle
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather, including heat, cold and rain
