Job Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Trucking Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the daily operations of freight transportation. This is a 1099 independent contractor position with no benefits included. The role offers flexibility as a remote position with the expectation to report to the office in Richmond, VA as needed. Compensation is provided through weekly payouts, either as a percentage of gross revenue or a set weekly salary, depending on the agreement.
Key Responsibilities:
Schedule and dispatch drivers to appropriate routes based on customer requirements, traffic, and weather conditions.
Coordinate with drivers, shippers, and receivers to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.
Monitor driver locations using GPS tracking systems and provide real-time support as needed.
Communicate effectively with customers to provide updates on shipment status and resolve any delivery issues.
Maintain accurate records of driver logs, routes, delivery schedules, and freight documentation.
Manage emergency situations, such as vehicle breakdowns, delays, or route changes, and provide timely solutions.
Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
Assist in optimizing routes for fuel efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule truck inspections and repairs.
Track and manage driver hours to prevent violations of HOS (Hours of Service) regulations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, transportation, or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience as a dispatcher in the trucking or logistics industry.
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance.
Proficient in dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Must be available to report to the office in Richmond, VA as needed.
