    Would you like to help manage a creative young nonprofit bringing science and technology curriculum to young people? Tumblehome, Inc. is a small, award-winning publisher and developer of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) curriculum, mostly for middle-school children in afterschool and summer programs. Our mission is to inspire young people in science through the power of story.

    We are currently a group of four dedicated educators and scientists. We are managing two National Science Foundation grants and helping to staff two other grants. Our current curricular focus ranges from data science to puffin ecology to neuroscience to epidemiology.

    We are seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) grant administrator to assist in managing our workflow and ensuring that we meet our financial obligations through collaboration with the Executive Director, board, team, customers and vendors. Specifically, we seek someone who will:

    Job Responsibilities

    • Meet with the Executive Director at least 3 times per week
    • Attend and take notes at weekly staff meetings
    • Working with the Executive Director, prepare agendas; create Board books and manage Board calendar of meetings
    • Organize and maintain online shared files
    • Coordinate with the Executive Director to issue invoices and pay outstanding invoices in a timely manner
    • Maintain awareness of spending and income; check financial transactions for accuracy
    • Interact on a regular basis with our accountant and promptly bring any issues to the attention of the Executive Director
    • Maintain the company calendar; arrange company travel; gather invoices and transmit to the accountant
    • Maintain and update company address book
    • Make certain that all employees are following procedures in the company financial handbook
    • Mail books as necessary
    • Assist in grant preparation
    • Carry out other duties as assigned

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree
    • At least 5 years' professional work experience
    • Experience with nonprofit management required
    • Strong skills in written and oral communication
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Experience with federal grants is a strong plus
    • Interest in science is preferred

    Working Conditions

    • This is primarily a remote position, but occasional meetings in the Boston area will be necessary
    • Normal Office environment
    • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
    • Ability to sit, stand and look at a computer screen for prolonged periods of time

    Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week

    Compensation: $40,000 + benefits

    Reports To: Executive Director

    FLSA Status: Exempt
