    Level 3 Radiographer (RT Level 3) - Manchester, CT

    • Must have X-Ray DDA (Film and Digital) at minimum
    • Must have Aerospace (NAS-410)
    • Willing to assist with relocation if needed
    • No travel required
    • On-site -- NOT hybrid
    • Must be a US Citizen or Greencard Holder - unable to hire candidates who require sponsorship b/c of the nature of the industry.
    • Will report to the Operations Manager

    POSITION PURPOSE
    Provide day-to-day floor leadership and technical input to calibrate equipment, conduct tests, and to interpret, evaluate, and document results in accordance with the procedures of the respective method. The Level 3 shall be thoroughly knowledgeable with the scope and limitations of designated method and shall exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job (OJT) training and guidance of NDT personnel.


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, administering, and grading the certification examinations, assuring the requirements are met, and certifying all other lesser “Levels” at the facility.
    • Set-up and calibrate all equipment used, interpret, evaluate, and document results through formal reports.
    • Conduct inspection on complex machined parts, castings, weldments and assemblies per blueprint, manufacturing outline, customers specifications and customer requirements utilizing various types of inspection equipment set up.
    • Document inspection results in accordance with company procedures and work instructions.
    • Assign and direct employees in NDT processes based on the business unit and customer requirements, as it relates to safety, quality, personnel certification, production and delivery.
    • Responsible for training and examining trainees, Level 1 and 2 personnel for certification in those methods
    • Interface with onsite customers on a day-by-day basis.
    • Evaluate and maintain inventory levels, in-coming material and communicate shortfalls to the appropriate personnel.
    • Participate and conduct safety audits as directed to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Establish and maintain housekeeping expectations throughout the department.
    • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
    • Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner.
    • Produce technical document generation, review and approve
    • Oversee employee development, examination and certification.
    • Conduct NDT for the acceptance of parts and document the results if a demonstration of proficiency in this ability was included in the practical examination.
    • When approved by the Corporate Level 3, be capable of auditing outside agencies to ensure the requirements of the written practice are met.
    • Perform shipping and contract review duties as needed.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Mentor and train coworkers assigned to you through on the job training in safe work practices, technical skills and compliance with company policy.
    • Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment for all staff ensuring all company policies are being followed
    • Maintain staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results in partnership with human resources
    • Review, validate, and approve reporting employees’ timesheet and reports.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • NDT Level 2 Certification in: RT. Certifiable to Level 3 per the requirements (NAS 410 and SNT-TC-1A), i.e., 4 years as a Level 2 is required to qualify for Level 3 certification unless the following conditions are met 1.) A 2 year degree in engineering or science study at a technical school, college or university reduces the above to 2 years experience. or 2.) A 3-4 year science or engineering undergraduate degree reduces the above to 1 year experience.
    • Knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT method(s).
    • Have a general knowledge of other NDT methods and product manufacturing and inspection technologies and customers including, but not limited to:
      • Must have RT and DDA (Film and Digital)
      • Liquid Penetrant (FPI) (PT) - nice to have
      • Magnetic Particle (Mag) (MT) - nice to have
      • Radiography (X-Ray) (RT) - nice to have
      • Computed Tomography (CT) - nice to have
      • Ultrasonic (UT) (Immersion) (Phased Array)
    • Computer literate with emphasis on Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Ability to read and understand technical documents relating to the applicable method.
    • High level of interpersonal communication skills.
    • Assist in the maintaining of the KAIZEN 6S discipline.
    • Utilize Hi-lo; crane and other material handling equipment
    • Ability and willingness to cross train other NDT methods
    • Flexible to work any shift and overtime as required.
    • Be capable of assuming technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff.
    • Will select method and technique for the specific inspection.
    • Must be able to prepare and verify the adequacy of procedures and work instructions.
    • Approve NDT procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy.
