We are actively searching for an in-person, private tutor to help facilitate our homeschool curriculum for our three boys in Frisco, Texas. We are looking for someone who is patient, upbeat, and able to keep our boys engaged and learning. We want their time with you to be fun and positive while productive. Our kids are bright, with particular strengths in math and science. We need someone who can stick to a schedule, keep them on task, and improvise when something light and fun is needed. An active individual who is great with boys would be an especially good fit.
Our family has lived in the Dallas area for about two years, having moved from Phoenix, AZ. We’re excited to resume homeschooling our three children (ages 7, 11, and 12). We’re seeking a dedicated educator to join us on this journey. The start date for this position is immediate.
Nixon – Our oldest son, age 12, loves sports, especially basketball and baseball. He is an avid NBA and MLB follower, constantly checking scores. He enjoys reading in his spare time and spending time with friends. Nixon is smart and quick-witted.
Nolan – Our 11-year-old also loves sports and plays basketball and baseball. Nolan is creative and very artistic. He enjoys building with Legos and excels at it. He is a bit quieter and easy-going.
Wesley – Our youngest son, age 7, has been thriving with homeschooling. He is a strong reader and is starting to excel in math like his brothers. He also loves Legos and plays baseball and will be joining his first basketball team this December.
We are excited to embark on this educational journey with the assistance of a capable and caring tutor. We’d love to meet potential candidates, introduce them to our family, and see if it’s a good fit for everyone.
Strong Emphasis On These Topics:
Math – Our primary focus is for the tutor to foster strong math skills, encouraging our children to progress and excel beyond standard grade-level expectations.
Reading – Our kids generally enjoy reading, and we would love to see them work more on reading comprehension and related assignments where they share insights from their reading. We have previously done book studies, using literature to learn spelling, vocabulary, and grammatical principles through the text.
Our experience shows that a teaching degree isn’t necessary, but we do need someone who is great with kids and prepared enough to keep them engaged and progressing. This position requires 10 in-person hours per week with an additional 5-10 hours for preparation. The hourly wage is competitive and will depend on experience and relevant skills.
