    Anticipated Hiring Rate: $26,000 (pro-rated based on a full-time rate of $56,000)

    THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

    UC Law SF seeks a Fellow to support LexLab, a community hub for legal technology and innovation situated in the law school. The Fellow's responsibilities will consist of the following duties: research, writing, speaking, event planning and hosting, project management, external and internal communication management (including social media channels), and relationship building among the legal, tech, academic, and finance communities. This is a 1-yr contract position with the opportunity to renew based on funding and performance.

    The research and writing will relate to legal technology, access to justice, regulatory reform, and public policy. The Fellow will act as an ambassador for the program within the UC Law SF community and the broader tech, academic and policy communities in California. This will include communicating with law firms, startups, incubators, public policy groups and investors.

    The Fellow will report to the Director of LexLab and the Director of Applied Innovation at UC Law SF.

    The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years of professional experience, including research and writing, project management, communications, and developing a social media presence. Candidates with a strong academic background and proven interest in law, technology, or access to justice will also be considered. Incumbents will have an opportunity to experience a law school environment, drop in on law classes, and network with the Bay Area Legal and Tech communities.

    Typical duties and responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Work closely and collaboratively with Director of LexLab and Director of Applied Innovation to make data-driven strategic decisions and prioritize goals;
    • Data gathering and data analysis;
    • Writing reports and papers as well as short-form content for social media;
    • Project manage and coordinate with different departments and partners to successfully pursue new initiatives;
    • Collaborate with Director of LexLab and Director of Applied Innovation to grow LexLab's network and visibility within the greater tech community;
    • Organize project planning, weekly meetings, and presentations;
    • Lead event preparation and production and all related content creation for large scale public events as well as smaller panels and events;
    • Other responsibilities as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS

    **EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    **

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred, although candidates with a strong academic background and proven interest in law, technology, or access to justice will also be considered.

    **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES **

    REQUIRED

    • Entrepreneurial outlook;
    • Self-starter;
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills;
    • Must be energetic, articulate, detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment;

    PREFERRED

    • Experience with or ability to learn databases such as Westlaw and Lexis; as well as data gathering and analysis programs such as Microsoft Excel, Stata, and Qualtrix;
    • Experience with or ability to learn empirical research protocols;
    • Experience with or ability to learn CRM software;
    • Graphic design experience and familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud;
    • Basic web design experience;
    • Experience producing video and audio segments

    As with many startups, LexLab is set up as an open, cooperative workspace, rather than individual offices. If the Fellow works on site, they must be comfortable with that working environment.
