JOB TITLE: Staff Accountant

OVERVIEW
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the activities of the overall general accounting function. Will oversee, implement and maintain accounting systems, procedures and policies. This position ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data and that proper information is maintained.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assigning and auditing the work of the accounting staff to develop, implement and/or maintain one or a combination of generally accepted accounting systems
Overseeing basic accounting procedures (A/R, A/P, time billing, P/R, G/L, tax payments and inventory control), closing of sub-ledgers and general ledger accounts
Monitoring and reviewing all record of assets, liabilities, and other financial transitions
Serving as direct assistance with financial audits
Performing all basic accounting procedures, month end closing, journal entries and general ledger maintenance, inventory roll forwards, fixed assets, and margin analysis; preparing supporting schedules for financial statements preparation
Managing fixed assets; maintaining the fixed asset system and depreciation calculations
Ensuring all active projects are covered by valid, binding contracts
Reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling general ledger accounts (including bank and credit card accounts) and investment transactions in conjunction with preparing quarterly reports for management
Maintaining constant communication, overseeing, and evaluating third party vendors related to the financial functions of the organization
Produces financial data for leadership team upon request and assists with other special accounting projects from time to time
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a minimum of 3 years progressive accounting experience or similar environment. Experience with non-profit is a plus.The candidate must demonstrate character, strong team chemistry, attention to detail, and alignment with the UPPERROOM “in and out” culture of prayer, worship, and service.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to develop and maintain strong vendor relationships
Demonstrated organizational administrative skills required
Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities
Ability to work and interact with departments and co-workers within the organization
Strong computer aptitude, including expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word, required
Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines
