    Job Summary

    A USCIS Civil Surgeon is a licensed physician authorized by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to perform medical examinations for individuals applying for U.S. permanent residency and other immigration-related purposes. The role includes ensuring compliance with medical requirements set forth by the Department of Homeland Security and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

    The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of medical guidelines, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of care and compliance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Perform immigration medical examinations (I-693 Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record) as mandated by USCIS.

    Review and ensure all required vaccinations are administered and documented correctly in accordance with CDC guidelines.

    Diagnose and treat communicable diseases and identify any health conditions of public health significance.

    Collect and process necessary laboratory tests, including blood work, tuberculosis testing, and sexually transmitted infection screening.

    Complete and certify USCIS medical forms accurately and in a timely manner.

    Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.

    Keep abreast of changes to USCIS and CDC guidelines related to immigration medical examinations.

    Provide clear communication to patients regarding examination requirements, results, and follow-up care if necessary.

    Collaborate with clinic staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely reporting of results to applicants.

    Qualifications

    Required Licensure: Must hold a current, unrestricted medical license in [state of practice].

    USCIS Designation: Must be a USCIS-designated Civil Surgeon or eligible to apply for designation (minimum 4 years of professional medical practice required for eligibility).

    Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution.

    Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or other applicable specialties is preferred.

    Proficiency in interpreting CDC and USCIS medical guidelines for immigration exams.

    Strong documentation and administrative skills to ensure accuracy in completing I-693 forms and other related paperwork.
