    Job Description

    Today’s USO continuously adapts to the needs of our men and women in uniform and their families, so they can focus on their very important mission. We operate USO centers at or near military installations across the United States and throughout the world, including in combat zones, and even un-staffed USO service sites in places too dangerous for anyone but combat troops to occupy.

    The Mobile Operations & Programs Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering Mobile USO programs and services within a designated service area, operating either large Mobile RV or smaller Sprinter fleet vehicle(s).

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*ESSENTIAL DUTIES)

    • Plan and execute travel schedule, logistics and other arrangements related to Mobile Program calendar of events. Ensure appropriate quantities of supplies are on hand and all equipment is clean and in good working order.*
    • Serve as main point of contact for Mobile USO events, programs and services within assigned service area. Create an inviting, visually appealing area for visitors and guests; promote a positive image of the USO. Lead and supervise on-site event volunteers.*
    • Serve as media spokesperson for Mobile USO programs and services within assigned service area. In coordination with internal Communications resources, compile and distribute press releases on upcoming events, coordinate on-site interviews, and prepare after-action media reports.*
    • Prepare and maintain all records and reports, including but not limited to travel logs, maintenance records, inventory, expenses, event planning and after-action reports related to programs and events within assigned service area.*
    • Prepare, equip and drive USO vehicle to and from assigned events including but not limited to military homecomings, deployments, and other marketing and public relations events, maintaining compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation regulations and USO Policies and Procedures.
    • Load, transport, unload and set up materials, food and beverage, and other supplies and equipment.
    • Cross train on all Mobile USO fleet vehicles; including smaller Sprinters and larger Mobile RVs. Position is may be pulled to support overall Mobile USO/USO mission delivery throughout the US.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
    • 3-5 years work progressively responsible work experience in event/program development and/or logistics role. Relevant experience in a not-for-profit, military, multicultural and/or global organization preferred.
    • Ability to obtain commercial driver’s license, if required.
    • Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills. Ability to interact with USO Leadership, the general public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism.
    • Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment. General knowledge of various software, applications, and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects. Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise.
    • Must show initiative, self-motivation, and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities. Ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needs.
    • Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Ability to perform basic math and follow proper cash/donation handling and reporting procedures.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid driver’s license.
    • Must be a strong advocate of the USO’s mission.
