    We are looking for an RFNA to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for all age patients in the operating room. Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center. Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in other departments as well as team members. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Clinical Director and/or Operating Room Manager, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits and projects.

    Salary Range: $50.00 - $66.00

    Required Skills

    Minimum Education and Experience

    • Completion of an accredited registered nursing program.
    • Completion of an RNFA Program
    • Two years perioperative experience preferred

    Required License/Certifications

    • Current California Registered Nursing License.
    • ACLS & BLS Certification
    • Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) required
    • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred
    • Completion of credentialing process or employment process **

    Required Skills

    • One year experience required intra-operative setting.
    • Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
    • Excellent knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with surgeons and surgical team members.
    • Thorough knowledge of surgical service line.
    • Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
    • Ability to plan and prioritize work with frequent interruptions.
    • Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge and proficiency of hospital information technology applications.

    Essential Functions

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provide competent and ethical care within legal standards of practice as applicable to the RNFA.

    Preoperative Role:

    • Participate in preoperative assessment and planning for selected surgical patients in collaboration with the health team members in the preoperative location.

    Intraoperative Role:

    • Recognize safety hazards and initiate appropriate preventative and corrective actions.
    • Provide exposure through appropriate use of instruments, retractors, suctioning, and sponging techniques.
    • Handle and dissect tissues in collaboration with the surgeon.
    • Clamp blood vessels, coagulate bleeding points, ligate vessels, and perform other procedures in collaboration with the surgeon.
    • Suture muscle, fascia, subcutaneous, and skin tissue in collaboration with the surgeon.
    • Place drains as surgically indicated.
    • Assist with cannulation and decannulation procedures, if indicated.

    P ostoperative Role:

    • Follow selected surgical patients postoperatively in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
    • Serve as an educator, mentor, consultant, and resource to colleagues and other health care professionals in relation to RNFA activities.
    • Work as a professional colleague with the perioperative team and influence multidisciplinary relationships by enhancing collaborative processes.
    • Maintain regulatory, credentialing, and privileging requirements.
    • Complete RNFA-specific competencies.
    • Pursue professional growth related to both perioperative nursing and RNFA practice and participate in a professional organization.
    • Other duties as assigned
