    USPI GCSA AMBULATORY SURGERY CENTER - MEDICAL CENTER, is seeking a motivated LICENSE VOCATIONAL NURSE to join our team. GCSA Ambulatory Surgery Center - Medical Center is a fast paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families. 

     

    LVN will render a safe, effective and specialized nursing care to patients (adults to geriatric) in terms of individual needs, according to the physician’s orders and in conformity with recognized nursing techniques and the Standards of Practice as required by the Texas Board of Nursing. Functions within the philosophy, policies and procedures of the ASC. Represents and supports the ASC in a positive manner both within and outside the facility. Works cooperatively with the physician and the other staff members, demonstrating initiative, insight and judgment in decision making. This position reports to the Charge Nurse and ASC Director.

     

    CLINICAL DUTIES:

    • The LVN is responsible for assisting/supervising in overall ASC operations to include patient triage, visits, and scheduling, returning calls and prescription refills.
    • Pre-Procedure and Admission to ASC to include explanation of procedure, explanation of all required patient forms, obtaining patient signatures on all forms.
    • Correctly performs IV insertion, administers IV medications and other medications under supervision as ordered for the patient.
    • Responsible to maintain and provide a safe, clean and orderly environment, through use of aseptic principles, consistent cleaning/disinfection of all patient care areas, and daily maintenance of endoscopic equipment.
    • Protects patient confidentiality by adherence to HIPAA standards and guidelines.
    • Maintains accurate and complete endoscopic records, documenting all nursing assessments, interventions and patient responses.
    • Assures laboratory/tissue policy and procedures are followed.
    • Initiates emergency measures as indicated.
    • Pre and post-procedure teaching and discharge instructions.
    • Functions within the scope of nursing practice as required by the Texas Board of Nursing.
    • Keeps knowledge and skills current through continuing education.
    • Reports errors of commission/omission.
    • Assures infection control policies are followed.
    • Anticipates and helps maintain an adequate inventory of supplies and medications.
    • Adheres to instructions and established routines.
    • Assists with orientation of new personnel.
    • May be the nurse designate in assisting the pharmacist to maintain accurate records of all medications located in the pharmacy closet.
    • Assists others as needed.
    • Other duties as required.

    Required Skills

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education/Training - High School Diploma and college degree is required; LVN license is required
    • Experience - 2-3 years of related healthcare experience
