Job Description
We are excited to welcome a talented Industrial Design Intern to our dynamic team. This role offers a rare chance to immerse yourself in a collaborative environment where creativity meets design and technology. You’ll work alongside multiple teams and business partners to develop functional products to enhance business productivity and guest experience. Your fresh perspectives and innovative ideas will contribute to creating a product that is functional, intuitive, and practical.
Responsibilities:
•Engage in Multidisciplinary Concept Development: Collaborate with the team to create
innovative product concepts that seamlessly integrate aesthetically pleasing design principles, electronic and IT components, mechanical functionality, ergonomic, and ADA considerations.
•Sketching and Ideation: Create sketches and digital renderings to visualize design ideas
and iterate on concepts.
•3D Modeling and CAD Development: Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino) to develop detailed 3D models of product components and assemblies.
•Ergonomics and Human Factors Analysis: Apply principles of ergonomics to ensure products are comfortable and intuitive for users in various environments.
•Materials and Manufacturing Exploration: Research and recommend suitable materials and manufacturing processes that align with design goals and budget constraints.
•User Research: Conduct research on user needs and behaviors to inform design decisions.
•Collaboration with Functional Teams: Work closely with Universal Creative, IT, Food, and
Retail teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with company objectives.
•Prepare Documentation and Presentations: Develop design documentation, including
specifications and presentations, to communicate ideas effectively to Executive Leadership and stakeholders.
•Stay Current with Industry Trends: Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in
industrial design and technology to contribute fresh ideas to projects.
Performs other duties as assigned
Pay Range: $18-$25/hour
Please note this is a hybrid internship and some on-site/in office presence will be required.
Qualifications
•In pursuit of Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in an accredited
Industrial Engineering program.
•Possess a portfolio or samples of your design work that showcase your suitability for this
role.
•Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360 or similar.
•Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
•Basic understanding of electronics, electrical components, IT and networking devices.
•Knowledge of mechanical systems and how to integrate them into design.
•Ability to apply human factors in the development of intuitive and functioning products.
•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail while maintaining a clear focus on the
overall project goals and not losing sight of the bigger picture.
•A genuine interest in art, design, technology, engineering and applying them to create new
ideas and products
•Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
•Strong problem-solving skills.
•Ability to work autonomously and in teams.
