    Job Title: Upper School French Teacher

    Reports to: Head of Upper School and Chair of the World Languages Department

    Start Date: August 19, 2025

    Job Description: King seeks a full-time Upper School French Teacher. This teacher will assume duties and responsibilities, consistent with expectations for all Upper School teachers, which complement the primary teaching load of four sections and one activity.

    Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

    • Teach four sections of French including advanced-level courses.

    • Serve as an advisor

    • Responsibilities include advocating for the students, communicating with parents about advisees’ progress, guiding advisees through daily school life, sharing information, and leading discussions.

    • Coordinate with the Director of Global Studies to plan, coordinate, and chaperone trip(s) abroad and help develop a new French Exchange Program.

    • Teacher Collaboration

    • Communicate with parents/guardians about student and advisee progress as necessary.

    • Attend regular department meetings with student support teams to discuss concerns and progress.

    • Collaborate with the Director of Teaching and Learning, Upper School Dean of Students, and School Counselors when appropriate to ensure students are fully supported and challenged.

    • Participate in all required meetings.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelors required, advanced degree in French preferred.
    • Significant experience teaching the full range of language levels.
    • Some experience teaching AP French.
    • Some experience living in a French-speaking country.
    • Proven ability to facilitate differentiated, student-centered best practices.
    • Proven ability to encourage student discovery and autonomy of thought.
    • Experience with literary analysis.
    • Some experience teaching introductory Spanish is preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to constructively collaborate with colleagues.
