    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the guidance of the Chief Impact Officer (CIO), the Director of Advocacy & Community Engagement provides management, development and planning of advocacy and community engagement activities regarding economic, environmental, transportation, civic and social justice for the Black community. This role is responsible for managing the strategic advocacy plan, brainstorming with team members at all stages of plan formulation, managing and supervising the work of department staff, overseeing department budget, proposing and advocating for initiatives for the organization, managing the fulfillment of donor-funded projects and program deliverables, and completion of any department reports.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in education, business, management, public affairs, international affairs/international relations, social work or related field preferred

    Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in community organizing, community engagement, developing grassroots leadership, and/or advocacy required

    Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and execution, program management and/or community organizing

    Advanced knowledge of governmental processes and public policy development (e.g. taxes, infrastructure, legislative, etc.)

    Knowledge of the socioeconomic characteristics and needs of the greater Seattle/King County area

    Intense passion for social justice and equity

    Proven track record of successfully working with community organizations and volunteers

    Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proven ability to interact with a wide variety of audiences

    Solid public speaking skills

    Experience in coalition building and community mobilization

    Ability to work independently with limited supervision

    Demonstrates cultural competency

    Ability to build trust quickly

    Ability to work a flexible schedule including late nights and weekends

    ULMS TOTAL COMPENSATION ** Most Benefits will take effect on the 1st of the month following a 60-day waiting period
