  • Responsibilities

    The purpose of this position is to facilitate utility billing. This is primarily accomplished by evaluating, collecting, and entering data for utility customer bills and preparing utility routes.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Bills customer accounts by initializing billing cycles, loading meter-reading data into the billing system, verifying all meter readings for accuracy, calculating and running billing reports, and mailing billings.
    • Analyzes and researches accuracy of usage variances to initiate meter repairs or replacements and updates meter information in the billing system for meter exchanges.
    • Processes completion of all move order requests for new and final billing.
    • Keeps records and/or logs related to daily activities, billing, and related items and checks automatically generated records and reports for accuracy.
    • Provides customer service by responding to requests for information from customers and resolving related problems.
    • Processes and manages the monthly equalized budget billing program.

    Supplemental Functions:

    • Performs other similar duties as required.

    Knowledge:

    • Customer service principles;
    • Recordkeeping principles;
    • Basic mathematical concepts;
    • Modern office equipment.

    Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

    • Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, handling, kneeling, vision, hearing, talking.

    • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.

    • Operating a computer and applicable software applications;
    • Applying local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations
    • Keyboarding;
    • Providing customer service;
    • Operating standard office equipment
    • Performing mathematical calculations;
    • Preparing a variety of reports and/or logs;
    • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

    Required Experience

    High school diploma or equivalency and at least six-months of advanced study, with at least one (1) year of relevant experience; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
