General Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Patient Services Manager and Food Service Supervisors, position is responsible for cleanup and sanitation of the department by following specific protocols. Responsible for sanitizing trays, dishware, utensils, pots and pans, cleaning floors and removing garbage from the operation. Position retrieves patient trays from hospital units for return to the food and nutrition department following meals. The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice® and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for general order and cleanliness of the kitchen, dish room and storage areas. Sweeps and mops floors. Keeps all towels and soap dispensers clean and stocked.
Cleans and returns all pots and pans, china, flatware, trays, storage containers, utensils and other items in a timely manner and according to established procedures. Sets up and maintains 3 compartment sick. Maintains proper set-up throughout the shift to include adequate soap and sanitizer levels. Uses and records sanitizer test strip readings daily. Maintains a clean and lime free dish machine, monitors its performance and maintains adequate soap and chemical supply. Return all washed items to their original location in a timely manner.
Follows standardized cleaning and sanitation procedures and practices a clean-as-you-go philosophy. Sweeps, mops and spot cleans floors. Follows closing procedures at end of day. Performs all assigned cleaning assignments. Discards garbage, cleans garbage cans and empties cardboard bins as necessary.
Effectively communicates with co-workers for successful completion of duties and informs management of any equipment or supply issues to management/supervisor in a timely fashion. Checks out with manager/supervisor before leaving for breaks and end of shift.
Participates in daily huddles, assists others as necessary and asks for help when needed. Assists management, as appropriate, in performing tasks conducive to efficient operation of the department.
Maintains work areas in an organized manner throughout shift and stores all items in the appropriate, designated locations.
Completes all essential logs and reports daily as required.
Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area
