The Role We Want You For
The Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Manager will become a strategic asset within a growing business unit and the key member of our project teams. As part of VDC team you will be involved in a range of activities throughout the design-build cycle that are essential for successful project delivery. These activities include support and implementation of Clayco’s Digital Practice Technology in a variety of duties as they relate to design analysis, design process, pre-construction, construction, and the facility handover. This is a critical support role with opportunity to become one of our VDC industry experts.
The Specifics of the Role
- Oversee multiple projects successfully execute BIM/VDC specific tasks.
- Provide comprehensive assistance during all project phases which includes the following:
- Development of visualization standards and capability.
- Works closely with project teams in solving problems through the use of digital production tools.
- Act as a champion for innovative and integrated approach to the use of technology.
- Understands the paradigm of standardized and modular approach to design & construction problems.
- Supports our project teams in creation of standardized content.
- Seeks the perfection when it comes to bridging the gap between models and construction documents.
- Assist project teams during both design and construction coordination activities.
- Provide technical support for a range of application used in-house. (Revit, Assemble Systems, AutoCAD, Navisworks), Structionsite, DroneDeploy, and BIM 360/ACC cloud-based technology). Assist during the Pre-Construction effort with estimating and scheduling process and developing workflows that facilitate seamless transition of design models into the construction cycle.
- Assists and coaches the project teams in the use of companywide VDC best practices.
- Assume ownership over the digital coordination process and federated model analysis and reporting.
- Supervise or perform 4D virtual building analysis on model working closely with scheduling, project managers, and superintendents.
- Supervise or manage model changes through design updates and as built conditions.
- Serves as the information manager and content gatekeeper for the duration of project.
- Assist project management team with the management of subcontractors and development of both work and logistic plans.
- Maintain understanding of the Clayco/Owner contract.
- Utilizes Clayco’s best practices for the following activities by using BIM 360 platform:
- Monitor document management process
- Report and track equipment needs
- Implement applicable safety programs.
- Submittal issues, and QA/QC process management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
- 5-10 years of experience in AEC industry, in particular MEP coordination.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with VDC/BIM related processes.
- Solid knowledge of construction principles/practices required.
- Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Building Design Suite (Revit, Assemble Systems, AutoCAD, Navisworks), Structionsite, DroneDeploy, and BIM 360/ACC cloud-based technology.
- Willing to travel and/or relocate to a job site.

Compensation
- The salary range for this position considers a wide range of factors in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: Education, qualifications, skills, training, experience, certifications, internal equity, and location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The Clayco Nationwide salary range for this position is approximately $95,000 - $125,000 +/- annually (not adjusted for location).
