    Job Description

    POSITION: CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WITH CLAIMS

    LOCATION: REMOTE

    SHIFT: 8AM-5PM EST

    DURATION: 12 CONTRACT

    RATE: $27/HR ON W2

    ROLE DESCRIPTION:

    MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTICS

    Knowledge of:

    1. federal and state laws and applications in order to complete applications for unemployment benefits by telephone: process all types of     departmental   policies and procedures governing monetary and non-monetary claims (e seasonal; school; non-school) and makes appropriate determinations in eligibility for and  processing of unemployment claims accordance with state and federal law and agency policy and regulations within established daily timelines;  and providing employment services';

    2. office practices schedules and conducts fact-finding interviews with customers; interviews customers, employers and/or their agents and procedures;

    3. public relations;

    4. human relations; with respect to reasons for separation from employment, availability for work, ability, refusal of work while    

    5. customer service;

    6. interviewing;

    7. basic English simultaneously entering fact-finding information into unemployment computer systems; analyzes interview findings vocabulary and issues written decisions on eligibility for benefits; makes overpayment decisions (e.g., determines reason for Skill in:

    8. operation of personal computer and and amount of overpayment); enters data to create and release decisions and notifies interested parties by letter or applicable software applications standard form; processes appeals and claims for reconsideration (e.g., forvvards to referee and LJnemployment    Ability to:

    9. interview/question applicants/claimants to Compensation Review Commission; notifies interested parties and fowards to Central Office); accepts and gather necessary information to define problem, processes new, re-opened and additional claims applications and continued weekly claims; utilizing unemployment establish facts and draw valid conclusions;

    10. add, computer systems or by manual process, verifies wage statements based on information supplied by claimant and/o subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers;

    11. wage record system and obtains wage information for use by compliance area to determine employer's liability;    calculate fractions, decimals and percentages to explains benefit and appeal rights; assists applicants in filing appeals and reconsideration requests (e.g., processes calculate deductible earnings, make approximation, appeals and sends file to reconsideration unit); working from an assigned queue of issues, independently and within complete time sheets and other basic calculations; 12) the established timelines; responds to issues (e.g., refusal of possible employment) and initiates notice to staff of gather, collate and classify information about data, possible disqualifying information for unemployment benefits; conducts and/or assists with group interviews to   people or things;

    12. communicate verbally by explain benefits; explains requirements, rates and determination, rights and obligations under law and claims issues telephone, face-to-face and/or in writing to convey and (e.g., availability; late filing; break in reporting; dependency; school issues); makes referrals to agencies outside of receive information to meet customer's need using basic Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS); provides back up to other customer service representatives English vocabulary;

    13. maintain accurate records;

    14. originate routine business letters reflecting standard procedures;

    15. handle sensitive inquiries from and contacts with officials and general public;

    16. understand manuals and verbal instructions, technical in nature;

    17. prepare meaningful, concise and accurate reports;

    18. complete routine forms;

    19. work in a team environment

    1.         ASSISTS WITH CALLS FORWARDED FROM CONTACT CENTER: CONDUCTS INTERVIEWS TO DETERMINE SERVICE NEEDS (E.G., INTRA OR INTERSTATE CLAIM AND LABOR EXCHANGE (LE); ASSISTS APPLICANTS WITH ES REGISTRATION; GATHERS INFORMATION FRO APPLICANTS TO DETERMINE PERSONAL AND WORK HISTORY REGARDING SKILLS, EDUCATION, APTITUDE, PHYSICAL IMITATIONS, JOB       

    1. INTEREST AND READINESS IN ORDER TO COMPLETE INFORMATION IN COMPUTER SCREENS; ASSIGNS OCCUPATIONAL CLASSIFICATION AND APPROPRIATE CODE; INSTRUCTS APPLICANT ON AVAILABILITY AND USE OF APPLICANT SELF SEARCH EQUIPMENT (E COMPUTERIZED SELF-SEARCH JOB STATION); MAKES REFERRAL TO OHIO MEANS JOBS CENTERS FOR ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

    3.PROVIDES GENERAL CLERICAL ASSISTANCE: ANSWERS TELEPHONE OR WRITTEN INQUIRIES REGARDING AVAILABLE SERVICES AND CLAIMS

    STATUS; REFERS INQUIRIES TO OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS; REFERS IRATE CALLS TO SUPERVISOR; TYPES AND/OR COMPLETES FORMS,

    PREPARES REPORTS AND GATHERS DATA REGARDING UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION.

    4.PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES (E.G., PROMOTES OHIO MEANS JOBS CENTERS BY SPEAKING WITH EMPLOYERS, PARTNERS,

    WORKERS AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS INFORMING CUSTOMERS OF PROPER PROCEDURES; INFORMS CLAIMANT OF PROPER FILING PROCEDURES; READS AND RESPONDS TO E-MAILS DAILY; TRAVELS TO AND ATTENDS TRAINING, SEMINARS, TRAINING SITES, OTHER OFFICE ABILITY TO: 9. 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20. LOCATIONS AND ALTERNATE WORK SITES AS ASSIGNED; ATTENDS STAFF MEETINGS; MAINTAINS LOGS, RECORDS AND FILES

    THIS POSITION IS UNCLASSIFIED PER 124.11(A) (29), OHIO REVISED CODE.

    TRAVEL REQUIRED, AS NEEDED. MUST PROVIDE OWN TRANSPORTATION OR, IN ORDER TO OPERATE A STATE VEHICLE, YOU MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVERS LIC ENSE.
