This role starts out as a temp to hire Hours vary 25-30 hours per week Flexible schedule.
The Bilingual Industrial HR Generalist handles the daily HR needs of a busy light industrial business (of 30 employees) in a warehouse and manufacturing setting, where approximately 50% of the employee population are Spanish speaking.
The HR Generalist must serve as a strong voice for the company and a reliable and trusted advisor to the management and to the individual employees, as well. The essence of the role is to be the knowledgeable and reliable go-to person for questions, issues, and problems and to support the successful management of the people part of our business.
The HR Generalist works with employees and managers to understand our company’s and Massachusetts’ state policies, to answer employee questions, and to tackle any issues that arise. You will also serve as a trusted advisor to all management on any employee issues, performance management and people strategy necessary for business growth. An external HR Consultant is available for on-call support with unusually complicated issues, administration of new local, state, or federal laws and medical leaves.
Responsibilities Include:
Daily HR Activities
· Payroll tracking and tracking of hours, time off and medical leaves.
· Employee issue support, as needed, for employees and management.
· Providing manager guidance and advice, as needed, when managers are faced with employee issues, challenges, or questions.
· Monitoring of workplace safety in collaboration with the Operations Manager, including accident reports, safety committee attendance, correct signage in the workplace, OSHA requirements
Hiring and Performance
· Hiring process administration including posting, reviewing resumes, arranging interviews, participating in interviews, as needed, providing training for managers on best interview practices, offer letters, onboarding and new hire paperwork
· Performance Management direction and support for performance issues, performance improvement, and annual performance management processes.
· Strategic staffing planning with business President and other leadership for company growth
Policy Administration
· Policy creation and administration, including monitoring the handbook and making changes as needed, clarifying policies and enforcing company policies
· Training and development with staff and managers, as needed, on HR topics (in conjunction with our external HR Consultant, who can provide many training topics)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Business HR knowledge including best practices in hiring, performance management, leave administration, and termination practices.
Strong attention to detail and organization
Ability to transmit company policies and procedures to others.
Excellent verbal and written communication in both Spanish and English, ability to convey information to others clearly and concisely.
Commitment to excellence in the HR field
Commitment to collaboration between departments for company success
Education and Experience:
2-5 years of direct HR experience required.
At least 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP desirable but not required.
High school diploma or GED required, associates or bachelor’s preferred but not required with the right combination of experience and certification.
Work Environment: IN OFFICE at Salisbury location. Travel to a client location (Beverly, MA), where some of our employees also work, may be required ON OCCASSION but must be able and willing to go to that facility when needed.
