SUMMARY
The Mine Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, directing, and coordinating mining operations Companywide. The Mine Planning Engineer will support day-to-day activities of production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Responsible for mining activities Companywide, including planning, | | preparation, active mine, and reclamation activities. | | - Develop short, medium, and long term mine plans for industrial sand | | ore reserves. | | - Develop ore/grade forecasts and schedules utilized by operations and | | sales; reconcile against actual production and sales. | | - Use Surpac mining software to design pits, ponds, ramps, roads, etc. | | as required for mine planning. | | - Designs, implements, and monitors mining-adjacent projects such as | | tailing processes, fresh water supply, pumping, power, geotechnical | | requirements, drainage, permitting requirements, etc. | | - Conduct studies and prepare reports on alternative mine designs and | | mining scenarios. | | - Review mine operating costs; find and implement efficiencies. | | - Evaluate alternative mining methods and equipment needs to ensure | | that the mining method is suitable and may have to be varied from | | time to time to ensure ore- from-waste separation is and remains | | effective with minimum dilution. | | - Develop new greenfield mines with the Technical Services and | | Operations teams. | | - Communicate and work closely with mine operations management. | | - Assist the Technical Services team to estimate Mineral Resources and | | Ore Reserves Companywide. | | - Develops and implements reclamation plans Companywide. | | - Works with management to ensure communications of current | | mining operation. | | - All other duties as assigned. | | - A Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, geological engineering, | | or equivalent. | | - A minimum of 10 years of above/below ground mining experience. | | - Expert user of Surpac mine planning software (or similar); competent | | with ArcGIS and Trimble Business Center (or similar) software. | | - A minimum of 5 years of experience in open pit mine planning, | | implementation, and operating execution experience. | | - Knowledge of how to prepare budgets, financial modeling, model cash | | flows, and an awareness of the main items in balance sheets and | | income statements. | | - Ability to communicate and present information in a manner that is | | clear and understandable. | | - Skilled in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. | | - Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in | | writing; strong people skills; excellent organizational skills. | | - Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a professional | | level to perform job duties safely and correctly. | | - Driver’s license required; High school diploma or GED. | +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+

WORKING CONDITIONS
