VP of Hardware for an Innovative Electric Vehicle Charging Company
Our client is a rapidly growing company in the electric vehicle charging sector, committed to delivering innovative, sustainable, and scalable charging infrastructure solutions. As a leader in the transition to electric mobility, the company is focused on expanding its hardware portfolio and enhancing the performance of its EV charging systems. The company seeks a dynamic and experienced leader to drive the hardware sourcing and deployment strategy and lead the evolution of their product offerings.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Review and Improvement: Evaluate current hardware solutions, identify areas for performance or reliability improvements, and implement improvements
- Supplier Management: Identify, assess, and onboard new hardware suppliers to support the company’s evolving needs; establish strategic partnerships, negotiate contracts, and create contingency plans to bolster supply chain resilience
- End-to-End Development: Lead the hardware lifecycle, from concept and design to prototyping, testing, deployment, and scaling
- Technical Issue Resolution: Lead the resolution of technical issues and enhance product functionality, quality, and user experience
- Deployment and Asset Management: Oversee the rollout of products, field installations, and ongoing management of physical assets
- Hardware-Software Collaboration: Collaborate closely with software leads to ensure seamless hardware-software integration and alignment with future product features
- Technology Integration: Evaluate and adopt emerging hardware technologies to support current and future roadmap features
- User-Centric Design: Prioritize end-user experience by delivering safe, intuitive, and effective hardware solutions in the field
- Quality Control: Oversee rigorous testing, validation, and quality control processes to ensure seamless integration and customer satisfaction
- Certification and Compliance: Manage hardware certification processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards (e.g., UL, IEC, SAE) and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in engineering or related fields preferred
- 10+ years of experience in hardware development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally within the EV, automotive, energy, or high-tech sectors
- Proven track record of scaling hardware products from concept through commercialization with third-party manufacturers
- Extensive knowledge of hardware design, embedded systems, and software-hardware integration
- Expertise in managing certification processes and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
- Strong leadership capabilities, including managing cross-functional teams in dynamic, high-growth environments
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Compensation: Targeting a base salary of $180-280k
