Job Title: VPD Technician Location: High Caliber Organics Inc., Adelanto, CA Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour Job Type: Full-Time
About the Role:
We are seeking a VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit) Technician to join our cultivation team! This role is crucial in maintaining optimal environmental conditions within our facility to ensure plant health and maximize yields. The VPD Technician will monitor and adjust temperature, humidity, and airflow levels, working closely with the VPD Supervisor, Cultivation Team, and Maintenance Team.
This position is open to both internal and external candidates. All applicants must pass a basic math test, a skill test, and a VPD-specific test before proceeding to the interview stage.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and document environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, and airflow.
Adjust climate control equipment, such as dehumidifiers, HVAC units, exhaust fans, and circulation fans.
Use climate monitoring software to analyze trends and detect fluctuations.
Perform routine inspections and report issues to the VPD Supervisor.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving environmental imbalances.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for dehumidification, airflow management, and HVAC maintenance.
Work collaboratively with cultivation and maintenance teams to optimize climate control strategies.
Respond to emergency environmental issues as needed.
Maintain accurate logs of environmental adjustments, system maintenance, and plant responses.
Train cultivation staff on basic VPD concepts and environmental adjustments.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and company safety regulations.
Testing & Qualification Requirements:
All candidates must pass the following tests before being considered for an interview:
Basic Math Test – Evaluates the ability to calculate temperature, humidity ratios, and unit conversions.
Skill Test – Assesses knowledge of climate control, equipment troubleshooting, and environmental adjustments.
VPD-Specific Test – Measures understanding of VPD calculations, plant transpiration, and environmental optimization.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Experience: 6+ months in cultivation, environmental monitoring, HVAC systems, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge of: Basic environmental science, climate control systems, and VPD principles.
Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and ability to follow standard procedures.
Preferred: Experience with climate monitoring systems, HVAC controls, or automated environmental software.
Availability: Must be available 7 days a week as work schedules may vary based on business needs.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Must be comfortable working in temperatures ranging from 60-90°F with 50%-80% humidity for extended periods.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work under bright lights.
Must wear PPE (personal protective equipment), including masks and gloves, as required.
