Job Title: Heat Treat Operator 2nd shift
Job Summary: A dynamic position for a skilled Heat Treat Operator to join an industry-leading team. This role involves operating vacuum furnaces, mixing and applying braze alloy, and ensuring high-quality standards for aerospace parts. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate vacuum furnaces, including freezer and quench tank operations.
- Mix and apply braze alloy on parts and components.
- Verify equipment calibration and tooling to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Perform visual inspections on braze joints before and after heat treatment.
- Conduct Rockwell inspections on parts or test samples.
- Complete necessary paperwork for work instructions and job functions.
- Prepare parts for heat treatment, ensuring cleanliness and proper stacking.
- Monitor metal color and instruments (voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, pyrometer) to maintain specified temperatures.
- Record data from each run and perform preventative maintenance as per schedule.
- Apply braze parts according to aerospace standards and keep the work area clean.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience
- Ability to learn programming for computer controls.
- Manual dexterity for handling small parts and measuring equipment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of AHT and VHT processes and procedures.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read and understand work order instructions and station plans.
Experience and Training:
- Basic skills in vacuum heat treat, aluminum heat treat, slurry, and braze. Certifications in Rockwell, Conductivity, TYS, and Hotwork preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to talk, hear, sit, use hands, reach with arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
- Moderate noise level.
- Frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs.
- Close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus required.
- Ability to drive and operate a forklift.
