    Job Description

    We are a small business based out of the Northwest Side of Chicago servicing other business and residential clients throughout Chicagoland. Our clients don't have an IT department and so our role is to handle their IT on a periodic and as-needed basis. This job is intended to be a "right hand man / woman" to the owner/lead consultant of the business, handling a multitude of IT and business challenges for the clients we service.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

    Networking:

    • Provide network support with a variety of operating systems.

    • Assist in network design and implementation

    • Install and configure computer network equipment, including routers/firewalls, switches (managed and unmanaged), wireless access points, etc.

    • Maintain network connectivity of all computer workstations.

    • Provide network support / troubleshooting to users.

    • Configure firewalls for usage, and perform regular maintenance through upgrades and patches

    • Defining and managing firewall policies.

    • Resolving problems with networks and other computer systems

    • Evaluate, recommend, and install WAPs for wireless installations, including provisioning, physical placement and testing of new WAPs

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot wiring issues on a network, including testing wires and data jacks

    • Configure network printers / scanners including configuring scanning over SMB and SMTP

    • Evaluate, recommend, and install smart home upgrades for customers, including doorbells and cameras

    Hardware/Software:

    • Perform computer upgrades including RAM, hard drive, video cards, network cards and software

    • Setup new computer/server hardware based on individual customer requirements

    • Maintain servers and associated hardware, applications, services, and settings.

    • proficiency in Powershell for process automation a plus

    • Diagnosing system errors and other issues

    • Installing or changing software to fix issues

    • Accessing hardware or software on-site/remotely for clients to make changes and fix problems

    Management:

    • Develop and monitor policies for the use of network resources.

    • Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades.

    • Create and maintain network users/permissions.

    • Maximize performance by troubleshooting network problems and outages and scheduling upgrades.

    • Following up with customers to ensure full resolution of issues

    • Serving as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email

    • Performing on-site/remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions

    • Determining the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers

    • Provide accurate information on IT products or services

    • Record events and problems and their resolution in logs/ticketing system

    • Follow-up and update customer status and information

    • Pass on any feedback or suggestions by customers to the appropriate internal team

    • Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures

    • Identify opportunities for automation within current processes.

    • Design and execute scripts that automate common tasks

    • Perform audits of organizational systems to ensure regulatory adherence using tools provided (Cyber Insurance, PCI, NIST)

    • Evaluate risk levels and impact

    • Create corrective plans to close down gaps

    • Define new procedures to ensure an ever-improving compliance adherence

    • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
