    As the Payroll Specialist, you will be supporting the organization through the administration of employee payroll. This is a part-time on-site position at our office in Grand Rapids.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for employee payroll processing, review, and recordkeeping, in adherence with state and federal laws and Human Resources best practices.
    • Address employee and manager questions related to payroll administration and timekeeping, providing requested forms and reviewing returned documentation for accuracy.
    • Update employee payroll-related records within the HRIS.
    • Import timecard records to payroll system, reviewing for completeness and accuracy; being sure to follow-up with supervisors and managers regarding potential discrepancies (missing punches, missing PTO, etc.).
    • Assist with new hire onboarding into HRIS and timeclock, verifying pay, deductions, vacation accruals, etc. are accurate.
    • Respond to incoming withholding orders, garnishments, and verifications of employment.
    • Maintain high level of confidentiality while ensuring the accuracy of payroll data.
    • Enter all additional pay including bonuses, reimbursements, and other miscellaneous items.
    • Update benefit deductions during open enrollment and as otherwise needed.
    • Sort and distribute payroll checks, including variable pay sheets.
    • Support the management of electronic document storage.
    • Assist with ADP projects, improvements, and workflows as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, accounting, or a related field preferred.
    • 2+ years of payroll experience including payroll processing, employee support, and other HR related payroll duties.
    • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
    • Good working knowledge of employment law, particularly as it relates to payroll, wages, and benefits.
    • Experience with ADP strongly preferred.
    • Must be organized, detail oriented and possess a high level of integrity.

    Physical Requirements

    Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time, as well as walk and climb stairs. Primarily working in an office environment, 5% warehouse/freezer/cooler environment. Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and own a reliable vehicle. Infrequent travel required to meetings off site in and around the Grand Rapids area and to the company’s locations in the Detroit area.
