    Job Description

    CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ESTIMATOR

    VANIR INSTALLED SALES, LLC

    WHO WE ARE:

Vanir Installed Sales is a siding installation company. Our headquarters is in Smithfield, NC and we have three branches: Charlotte, Charleston, and Raleigh.

We manage two things for our customers: labor and materials. Your job as an estimator will be to estimate the amount and cost of materials needed for each jobsite. The labor pricing is handled by the branch manager. You’ll have a set of plans that we’ve gotten from our customer and use a software called PlanSwift to measure each type of material on the plans: the siding, the trim, the shutters, etc. You’ll put those measurements into an excel spreadsheet with pricing.

Our estimating department currently has 6 people and we are hiring two more. We are looking for someone smart and easy to get along with; but not necessarily someone with any construction experience. We’re willing to train you on the job and have a manager dedicated to your training and success. We recently hired a young person with no construction experience and within 6 months they’ve become one of our top estimators.

Our work culture is young and our hours can be flexible within reason. You’re expected to be in the office for 40 hours a week and spend a significant portion of your working hours in the office while everyone else is there; but you don’t necessarily have to abide by the 7am-4pm work schedule (7am-12pm on Fridays). Many of our estimators come in from 8am-5pm or even 9am-6pm (and 8am-1pm or 9am-2pm on Fridays).

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Upload house plans into PlanSwift
    • Measure the amount of material needed for each plan (called a “material takeoff”).
    • Talk to vendors about the pricing for materials.
    • Upload the material takeoff into dropbox
    • Meet the deadline set by the branch manager who requested the takeoff (usually 2 weeks).

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma
    • Computer savvy (can pick up computer programs relatively easily: excel, planswift, dropbox)
    • Happy working in front of a computer all day
    • Can meet strict deadlines
    • Can work on projects alone (there is help and advice given on questions you may have; but a material takeoff is always done by just one person)
    • Is detail oriented

    BENEFITS & PERKS:

    • Competitive salary
    • Training in a skill that will be a lucrative career (there is always a high demand for trained construction estimators)
    • Relatively flexible hours
    • Paid vacation
    • Health and dental insurance
    • Matched 401k program
    • Flexible spending accounts
    • Casual dress code
    • Dog-friendly office

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
