    The Role

    The Lead Dockhand is responsible to the Marina Manager who oversees the day-to-day management of the marina. The most important aspects of the operation are maintaining the highest level of safety, customer service and appearance for the facility and its staff.

    The Lead dockhand reports to the Marina Manager who oversees the entire Marina operation. This key person is responsible for assisting in day to day running of the marina, marina policies, customer service, regulations, maintenance, and supervision of other dockhands.

    Key responsibilities and duties:

    · Assists Marina Manager with supervising all personnel, administers safety, training and ensures following of established company procedures.

    · Ensures the safety of employees, customers, and visitors.

    · Provide an excellent level of courteous service to all customers and guests.

    · Develops employees for progression and advancement within the company.

    · May perform other tasks assigned by senior management.

    · Keep adequate records of boats, trailers and engines belonging to customers by attaching an identifying tag.

    · Maintain exacting standards of cleanliness, marina maintenance and professional service to tenants, and enforce the same through equally exacting standards of employee conduct and performance.

    · Enforce marina rules and regulations.

    · Assists with marina security.

    · Opening and closing procedures for docks and marina.

    · Assisting with docking and de-docking of vessels – in all weather conditions.

    · Boat preparation and maintenance.

    · General marina maintenance and repairs.

    · Familiar with all safety and disaster procedures.

    · Ability to work unsupervised.

    · Ability to supervise small teams.

    · Operating marina vehicles and vessels.

    · Boating experience is required.

    A thorough knowledge of general boat handling, mooring and docking practices applicable to the operation and use of marina facilities is required. Wet and dry marina experience, good working knowledge of boat operations, knowledge of standard safety precautions and first aid procedure, ability to organize maintenance and supervise, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, concessionaires, and the public.
