Job Summary
Working under the supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacy by performing a variety of functions in accordance with guidelines, laws and policies.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
· Assists the Pharmacist in the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy.
· Receives and verifies the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions by confirming information with the Pharmacist.
· Reviews and records patient information.
· Verifies insurance coverage and discusses coverage with customers.
· Submits insurance claims for reimbursement.
· Disburses completed and confirmed prescriptions to customers in accordance with the pharmacist instructions/orders.
· Answers incoming calls and fields questions.
· Maintains a clean and safe pharmacy by complying with regulations, rules, and procedures.
· Follows infection control protocols in compliance with office policies and procedures, safety, and OSHA guidelines.
· Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential in accordance with HIPAA.
· Participates in the achievement of customer satisfaction goals by working efficiently and providing a high level of service.
· Offers exceptional interpersonal and technical skills in the delivery of information and care.
· Develops and maintains good relationships with the local medical community.
· Enters sales on assigned cash register, collects payments, and handles cash as required.
· Ensures proper operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
· Stocks and assists the Pharmacist with maintaining supplies inventory.
· Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies appropriately and efficiently.
· Assist with other duties as directed.
Minimum Requirements:
· Strong interpersonal communication skills.
· Ability to perform detailed work according to established polices and protocols.
· Working knowledge of Retail Operations.
· Ability to perform simple mathematics including counting and measuring.

Preferred Requirements
· Previous experience in a Pharmacy setting as a Pharmaceutical Technician
· Completion of an accredited Pharmaceutical Technician Certification program
