    Job Summary:

    The Humane Society of Forsyth County is seeking a passionate and experienced Veterinarian to join our team full-time! As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2025, our shelter and clinic are expanding and we need a dedicated veterinarian to help take our lifesaving work to the next level. In this position, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality veterinary care to shelter animals and the community through our low-cost wellness clinic. Your expertise will directly impact the health and well-being of the animals in our care and support pet owners in need.

    Responsibilities:

    Perform spay/neuter surgeries three days a week for the shelter and public, adhering to established protocols and ensuring the highest standards of surgical care.

    Provide veterinary services two days a week for our public low-cost wellness clinic, including exams, vaccinations, heartworm treatments while providing education, and offering affordable preventive care to the community.

    Provide routine and preventive veterinary care to shelter animals, including vaccinations, parasite control, and health examinations.

    Diagnose and treat medical conditions in shelter animals, coordinating with the veterinary team to develop appropriate treatment plans.

    Collaborate with shelter staff to assess the overall health and well-being of animals, making recommendations for medical care and interventions as needed.

    Conduct thorough physical examinations of incoming animals to identify health concerns or issues requiring medical attention.

    Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all animals in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements.

    Participate in the development and implementation of disease prevention and control protocols within the shelter environment.

    Provide guidance and support to shelter staff regarding animal health and welfare, as well as assist in training programs as needed.

    Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine and shelter practices through continuous education and professional development.

    Collaborate with external veterinary professionals and specialists as necessary.

    Qualifications:

    Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school.

    Minimum of one year of experience in spay/neuter surgeries.

    Shelter medicine experience is preferred.

    Valid and active veterinary license in the state of GA.

    Strong surgical skills and knowledge of best practices in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter procedures.

    Compassion for animals and a commitment to promoting their welfare.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

    Salary Range: $127,000 - 143,000, based on experience.
