    Willow Glen Pet Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Our hospital is fast-paced; therefore, we need an individual who is knowledgeable, energetic, multi-task oriented and has a true passion for helping pet patients as well as clients. Client satisfaction is one of our main motives. Our hospital has three doctors and provides general practice care to cats and dogs.     Regular full-time and part-time employees are eligible (some benefits for part-time employees are pro-rated based on work hours).

    Work Hours:

    Mon through Fri: 8:00/9:00 AM to 6:30/7:00 PM

    Sat: 8:00 AM to 6:00/6:30 PM (candidates must have the flexibility to work at least 2 Saturday shifts per month)

    No Remote Work

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Clinical Duties & Patient Care:

    Monitor post-surgical patients and report any concerns.

    Perform hygiene tasks (bathing, nail trims, ear cleaning, etc.).

    Provide companionship and exercise for animals.

    Prepare and administer feed per dietary requirements.

    Identify behavioral or clinical signs of illness/injury.

    Provide emergency first aid when needed.

    Perform dental cleanings, polishing, and full-mouth X-rays.

    Prep surgical sites and monitor recovery post-surgery.

    Collect, prepare, and label lab specimens (blood, urine, feces).

    Perform diagnostic tests and assist with X-rays.

    Continuously train to enhance clinical skills.

    Veterinary Support:

    Administer medications, immunizations, and prescriptions as directed.

    Assist with exams, procedures, and animal restraint.

    Support veterinarians during surgery by prepping equipment and passing instruments.

    Assist with euthanasia and aftercare when necessary.

    Clinic Maintenance:

    Assist with inventory management and supply restocking.

    Follow safety and sanitation protocols for instruments, equipment, and exam/surgery rooms.

    Administrative Duties:

    Maintain accurate patient records, including treatments, medications, test results, and client communications.

    Ensure all client forms and waivers are completed properly.

    Assist with CSR/front desk tasks as needed (scheduling, check-in/out, record management, invoicing, product sales, and processing charges).

    Client Interactions:

    Create a welcoming experience for clients and their pets.

    Answer calls, schedule appointments, manage follow-ups, and provide clinic information.

    Update clients on their pet’s health, post-operative care, and treatment plans.

    Educate pet owners on health care, behavior, and nutrition.

    Address client concerns professionally and escalate when necessary.

    Engages in professional, gossip-free conversations with clients, staff, and vendors.

    Knowledgeable about core and elective vaccinations, able to educate clients.

    Proficient in Microsoft Office, practice management software (Idexx Neo, IDEXX Lab Station), and label-making software.

    Education and Experience:

    Must possess either an HS diploma/GED or Associate degree/other 2-year degrees/some college.

    Post-Secondary Certificate - awarded for training completed after HS

    Previous experience in the veterinary clinic/hospital setting or working with animals is beneficial.

    Experience with Vet software and EMRs. We use DaySmart Vet, formerly Vetter Software (experience with this EMR is a plus, but it is not required).

    Physical Requirements:

    Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, bending, and lifting.

    Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times and have physical stamina for holding/lifting moving animals.
