About the Role:
The Veterinary Surgical Specialist will provide expert surgical care to animals with a wide range of surgical needs. This role requires advanced knowledge and skills in various surgical disciplines, as well as a commitment to client communication and collaboration. Responsibilities include:
- Performing a variety of surgical procedures, including soft tissue, orthopedic, and neurologic surgeries.
- Evaluating and diagnosing surgical cases, developing surgical plans, and performing surgeries with precision and expertise.
- Collaborating with other specialists and referring veterinarians to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Communicating effectively with clients, explaining surgical procedures, risks, and post-operative care instructions with empathy and clarity.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed medical records.
- Participating in continuing education and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in veterinary surgery.
- Mentoring and training veterinary students and ER DVMs
- Contributing to scholarly activities.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree.
- Texas State License (Required)
- Completion of a residency program in Veterinary Surgery.
- Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS).
- Strong surgical skills and a thorough understanding of surgical principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- A deep commitment to providing exceptional patient care and client service.

- High-speed CT scanner with cardiac capabilities (full body scan in under 2 minutes).
- An array of advanced surgical equipment including arthroscopy, laparoscopy, Interlocking nails, different plating systems, and vessel sealing devices.
- Separate ultrasonography equipment for abdominal and cardiac imaging.
- Fluoroscopy with a minimally invasive surgical suite
- Dedicated suites for minimally invasive orthopedic, general orthopedic, and soft tissue surgeries.
- Integrated ICU and anesthesia units.
- Separation between cat and dog ICUs
- State-of-the-art oxygen cages.
- Anesthesia units with integrated ventilators.
- Separate gastrointestinal and respiratory isolation units.
- Cloud-based software with integration to other systems in the hospital
